Chicago Decriminalizes Marijuana Possession (Less Than 10 Grams)
"On June 27, the Chicago City Council voted 43-3 to decriminalize marijuana possession in the city. More than 2,000 Chicago residents signed this petition in support of the measure which petition creator Jim Gierach, a former Cook County prosecutor, says will greatly free up police resources to focus on Chicago's rising violent crime problem (Change.Org)." 2,049 voters signed the petition to support this concept, which means that now, if caught in Chicago with less than 10 grams of marijuana, you will simply receive a $250 ticket.
